  Brax stirs in his sleep, reaching for me. I scramble away, but his arms wrap around my shoulders pulling my head flat against his abdomen. I push against him, my heart pounding in my ears. my ice-cold flesh is pressed against his warm skin, but it does little to warm me. Sycilly glares in my direction from the doorway before smiling the kind of smile that sends chills racing down my spine. I knew better. No one in the stupid school knows the meaning of kindness. She points her phone in our direction, “Check out Murph’s new bff in bed with her man. Tsk, tsk.”

  Brax’s grip tightens the more I struggle against him. “I told you you’d pay bitch,” he whispers in my ear before covering my mouth with his. His tongue pushes through the barrier of my lips before retreating again. I bite down…hard. The metallic taste of blood lingers on my lips, but he releases me.

  I scramble off the bed and out of the reach of his long arms then shove Sycilly from the door where she stands recording every mortifying moment of my demise. My feet carry me out down the hall and out the front door. I snatch up my soaked clothes and race across the drive.

  Please let his keys be in the car.

  I jab my foot to the brake and press the start button, sighing with relief when the car purrs to life.

  The tears start as soon as I hit the main road. I don’t even try to stop them. Fuck this whole goddamn place.

  Fuck Worthington High and their stuck-up pretty bitches. Fuck this stupid rich ass town. Fuck my dumbass father and his stupid business. And Fuck Kiah Marten.
